Athletics

Intramural Activities –

Intramurals will meet from 2:45-4:15 PM.  Students are encouraged to read the intramural bulletin board and listen for intramural changes and announcements in PE classes and on CTV. Meeting days are as follows:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – All Grades 

Fall - Flag football, capture the flag, field hockey and soccer

Winter – Wrestling, tumbling and pickleball

Spring – Badminton, volleyball, softball and cheerleading

Community Service

Service Learning Club –

For students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade volunteer to work at various non-profit organizations and businesses in Westport one afternoon per week. Town bus service available from school to agency or business location; monthly meeting with entire group at Toquet Hall.

Theater - Music

Sixth Grade Theater Workshop

Meets Wednesdays and Thursdays 2:45-4:00 PM beginning September 21st and ending in mid November. Students involved will work on a variety of theatrical skills including character reading, singing, dancing, preparing for an audition, etc. The workshop is non-competitive and a great way for students to have a general introduction to theatre and Coleytown Company.

 

All School Musical

Grease - Auditions will be held in early December; rehearsals take place during the months of January, February and March. The show is presented on April 6, 7 and 8.

 

Technical Theatre

Available to 7th and 8th graders only. Program will begin in early December and will run through beginning of April. Students will learn technical theatre skills which will culminate with constructing part of the production set.

 

Chamber Orchestra

For 6th, 7th and 8th grade students by audition; group will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00-7:45 AM

 

Jazz Band

For 6th, 7th and 8th grade students by audition;

group will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00-7:45 AM

 

Chamber Singers

For 7th and 8th grade students by audition; group will meet Thursdays 3:00-4:00 PM.

 

Sixth Grade Chorus

Open to all 6th graders; group will meet Mondays from 7:10-7:50 AM

Other Activities at CMS

C.T.V. (Coleytown Television)

Every morning a “live” TV show is broadcast throughout the school detailing important announcements of the day; highlights of school activities; the birthdays being celebrated that day as well as the weather report.

 

The Colt

The student newspaper is published four times each year; meetings held after school on an “as needed” basis. Meets Tuesdays 3:00– 3:30 PM

 

The Coleytown Service Board (CSB)

The student government at CMS is called the CSB; election for the President and Vice-President positions are scheduled in Sept.

Each team will elect 3 or 4 students (determined by number of classes on each team) to represent each team. CSB meetings will be held 2d Monday of the month.

 

Yearbook

A yearbook is worked on over the entire year, and is distributed at the end of the school year; this club meets after school from November through March.

 

CMS Math Team

Coleytown’s only traveling team. The Math Team invites all students interested in competing mathematically to join. Practices  take place on Tuesdays 3:00-4:00 PM. Meets run until 5:45 PM. Transportation home from CMS must be provided by student.

 

CMS Debate Society

Open to all students. The goal is to introduce the basics of preparing, planning, and presentation of debates. Meet every other Thursday from 3:00-3:45 PM in Room 219.

 

Coleytown Literary Magazine

Open to all students. The Literary Magazine is published annually in the Spring and students will work on layout and design of the magazine throughout the academic year, beginning in November. Meet Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 PM
