The "Cold War" created alarm in America. The country was determined to stand up for democracy against communism at home and abroad. This informative program provides a close look at the world’s political distress in the 1950s and how it affected America. Also covered are President Truman’s decisions to enter the war in Korea and to continue to develop the hydrogen bomb. President Eisenhower's successful administration and Vice President Nixon’s early scandals are also included. Viewers will be intrigued by the fun and creative direction technology took in the 50s. Inventors introduced everything from robot-lawnmowers to inflatable planes.
